But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for
I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man
looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7
First impressions...you look, they look. You shake hands, fake a smile, and walk
away thinking, "you've got them all figured out just by their appearance.
However, you do it, you still label people. Everybody does and we do it based on
superficial characteristics, looks determine the label, straight teeth, nice
haircut, right clothes" all the right stuff. Guess what? God isn't concerned
with clothes or haircuts. People's looks aren't ever an issue for him. His eyes
look on to the heart and make an inspection there. He wants to know who you are
on the inside. How do you really feel? Are you really as mean as a yeard dog, or
do you cut other people down because your heart has been broken or is really
hurting?
God knows the truth about people and sees your heart.
See for yourselves..
1 Chronicles 28:9
"And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with
wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart
and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be
found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.
2 Chronicles 6:30
then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive, and deal with each man
according to all he does, since you know his heart (for you alone know the
hearts of men),
Jeremiah 20:12
O LORD Almighty, you who examine the righteous and probe the heart and mind, let
me see your vengeance upon them, for to you I have committed my cause.
Acts 15:8-9
8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy
Spirit to them, just as he did to us. 9 He made no distinction between us and
them, for he purified their hearts by faith.
